Your Assessment

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) needs health information about people claiming benefits. This is done by an assessment process. The purpose of the assessment is to understand how your illness or disability affects your daily life. The Health Assessment Advisory Service arranges and carries out assessments for DWP. After the assessment, DWP makes the decision on your benefits claim.

DWP temporarily suspended face-to-face benefit assessments in March 2020 due to COVID-19. DWP has now resumed face-to-face assessments in COVID-19 safety compliant environments as well as continuing some assessments by telephone and video.

Your health is a priority, so if you have a face-to-face assessment, you can learn more here about the safety measures in place here.
